Join us for a fun Sailing Regatta that will feature Sunfish, Optimist, Windsurfers, Kite and Micro boats. The sailing will be in the bay in front of the event for a great view.
1. RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020, the rules of entered classes, except as any of these are altered by these Sailing Instructions.
1.2 In addition to this rules. When boats meet and on or more boats of the Optimist class are involved, the Optimist class has the right of way.

2. COURSE AND TEAM RELAY RACES
2.1 For the Optimist and Sunfish there will be 3 short back to back races in the morning
2.2 Yachts and catamaran will have 2 back to back races in in the bay of Kralendijk during the morning and 1 longer race around Klein Bonaire in the afternoon.
2.3 Sunfish and optimist will sail a relay race in the afternoon. Teams of 2 Sunfish and 2 Optimist sailors are put together based on the results of the morning race.
3. SIGNALS MADE
3.1 All signals are made from the start boat in front of Kas di Regatta.
4. SCHEDULE OF RACES and CAPTAINS MEETING
4.1 There will be a short captains meeting (briefing) at 09:00 and one for the Relay races 13:00 (or when last Optimist and Sunfish sailors are done racing their morning races) in the garden of Kas di Regatta.
4.2 Schedule of races, starting times, class flags and courses to sail for all classes are as follows:

Warning signal – 2nd and 3rd race in the Back to Back series approx. 15 minutes after last finisher of their class. Be aware!! Depending on the order of classes finished, the starts of the back to back races can be made in a different order as published.
4.3 Team Relay races will start 14:15. Schedule will be pronounced during afternoon meeting at 13:00
4.4 On the last day of racing, no warning signal will be made after 16:00
5. THE COURSES
5.1 The course diagrams are published on our website and will be posted on the Official Noticeboard. If needed, handouts will be available during the Captains meeting.

6. MARKS
6.1 Marks will be yellow colored buoys.
7. AREAS THAT ARE OBSTRUCTIONS
7.1 Courses shall be sailed seaward of the imaginary line connecting mooring spars, mooring buoys, dive buoys, moored boats and shallow water marks. The area between this line and the nearest shore shall be considered a continuing obstruction.
7.2 Stay at least 300 ft. / 100 m. from a moored dive boat. All dive boats should be recognizable by display a sport dive flag or provided with dive symbols on the hull of the boat.
8. THE START
8.1 Races will be started in accordance with ISAF rule 26. Warning signal will be made 5 minutes before the starting signal of the class. The starting signal of a preceding class is the warning signal for the succeeding class.
8.2 The starting line will be between the race committee boat in front of Kas di Regatta and a yellow marker approx. 50 meters downwind from this point. Start will be in direction of the Harbor Village Marina
8.3 Boats whose warning signal has not been made shall stay away at least 200 meters from the starting line. Failure to comply with this rule will lead to immediate disqualification without a hearing.
8.4 A boat starting later than 5 minutes after her starting signal will be scored Did Not Start without a hearing. This changes rule A4 and A5.
8.5 Warning signals for the 2nd start in a back to back series, will be made approx. 15 minutes after the last boat in their class has finished.
9. RECALLS
9.1 Individual recalls will be signaled in accordance with rule 29.1.
9.2 General recalls will be signaled in accordance with ISAF rule 29.2
9.3 In the event of a general recall, starts for succeeding classes will be postponed accordingly.
10. THE FINISH
The finishing line will be same as the start line. Between the race committee boat in front of Kas di Regatta and a white Budget Marine marker approx. 50 meters downwind from this point.
11. TIME LIMITS
11.1 The finish time limit for boats sailing back to back races is 30 minutes after the first finisher in their class. Boat who finish past this time limit will be finished normally, but will be excluded from the 2nd race.
12. PROTESTS AND REQUESTS FOR REDRESS
12.1 There is no protest committee present during this event. I case of a mishap, the race officer will decide. His decision will be final.
13. SCORING
13.1 For all classes, the low points scoring system (Appendix A) will apply.
13.2 Any number of races completed shall constitute a series.
13.3 When are no throughout races. Every point counts
13.4 Yachts and Caramaran will use the Dutch SW rating system to sail together in one class
14. SAFETY REGULATIONS
14.1 For all classes: Boats which do not start, which retire or do not finish shall inform the race committee as soon as possible.
14.2 Optimist sailors have always the right of way.
15. PRIZES
18.1 Winners of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place of each class will be awarded with a medal. Team Relay races will be awarded separately
18.2 The award ceremony will take place on the same day Sunday, December 15th, 17:00 at Kas di Regatta.
19. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
The responsibility for the safety and security of each participating boat, its crew and its gear as well as for the decision whether or not to race or continue to race lies entirely with the participant. Participants in the race do so entirely on their own risk. Budget Marine as organizing committee and any member of the race committee cannot be held liable for any damage, loss of life or injury of whatever nature which directly or indirectly is a result of participating in the regatta.
